Public Discussion – CoP Climate and Health Justice

Climate change is the greatest health threat facing humanity in general and marginalized people in particular. Neglected Tropical Diseases (NTDs) are diseases which severely disable, kill, and spread to people and nations who find themselves pushed to the brink by gross inequalities, often unfairly, driven by climate change.

In this interaction, FAIRMED shared on

  • how WHO’s NTD division expresses itself on this topic as suggested focus areas for member states and other non-state actors,
  • what we are observing today in the intersection between climate change and NTDs,
  • what FAIRMED has done in Nepal and Chad to strengthen understanding and mitigating the impacts of climate change on NTDs.
Programme
  1. Fabio Molinari: Introduction
  2. Bharath Sundar: Climate change and NTDs, with an example from Nepal
  3. Alphonse Um Book: Example from Chad of implementation science on the impacts of climate change
  4. Questions and answers, discussion
