Public Discussion – CoP Climate and Health Justice
After some disputes and mixed messages seen at the 154th Session of the World Health Organization, in January 2024, we expect WHO member states, at the upcoming 77th World Health Assembly, to adopt two key documents positioning WHO in the field of health and climate change:
- A resolution on “Climate Change and Health”
Draft resolution (state of EB154) - “Responding to climate change” as one of six strategic objectives of WHO for the coming years
Draft WHO GPW14 (pre-WHA version)
At an open discussion meeting, we explored what engagement and leadership in the promotion of climate and health justice can be expected (and shall be demanded) from WHO – and its member states? – if these two milestone documents are adopted by the World Health Assembly.
