The General Assembly of the MMI Network took place in week of the 69th World Health Assembly (WHA), on Saturday morning, 28 May 2016, at the ICRC Museum in Geneva, which is situated just opposite the main entrance of the Palais des Nations.

This well-established arrangement allowed Network members to link their participation in the MMI Assembly with attending the World Health Assembly as a member of the MMI delegation; on the other hand WHA delegates were invited to join the MMI meeting as our guests.

The Assembly elected Carlos Mediano (Medicus Mundi Spain) as new president – following Nick Lorenz who retired after having served 8 years in the MMI Board and 6 years as a President. The Board was completed by Martin Leschhorn (Medicus Mundi Switzerland). The Assembly then focused on the annual report and accounts of the last year and discussed the ongoing work and how Network members can engage in the working groups and processes.

The statutory part of the Assembly was followed by a lunch and an informal public workshop on “Promoting access to health in fragile contexts: What role for international cooperation?”). The program was completed by a dinner for MMI members on Friday evening, 27 May.
