The Annual General Assembly of the Medicus Mundi International Network took place again in the middle of “International Geneva”, close to the Palais des Nations where the 71st World Health Assembly (WHA) met in the same week. This well-established arrangement allowed Network members to link their participation in the MMI Assembly with attending the WHA as a member of the MMI delegation; on the other hand WHA delegates, partners and all others interested are invited to attend our public side event.

For once (and hopefully not for the last time) our Assembly and side event was hosted by the Global Health Centre of the Graduate Institute at their Maison de la Paix, one of “the” places where people met for WHA side events.

As in every year, our Assembly was a good opportunity for discussing with our members the achievements of the MMI Network in the past year and to look out into our future.

In particular, the Assembly

  • adopted the Annual Report 2017;
  • adopted the Financial Report 2017 and discharged the Board;
  • approved the Budget and the membership fees for 2018.
  • was briefed about current activities of the MMI working groups.

The full Assembly documentation is available – for Network members only – in a dedicated Dropbox folder. If you do not know how to access it, please get in touch with our Secretariat.

The public lunch event “#AidToo: Sexual exploitation in international cooperation” (12.30-14.00 hrs) organized in cooperation with the Global Health Centre was good success. We appreciated the intensity and honesty of the conversation. It was good to see that we had the “right” people (personalities, experiences, contributions) on the panel – and that the other colleagues who made it to the meeting were attentive, engaged. Thanks again to the Global Health Centre for hosting and great support, and  Cordaid, the Institute of Tropical Medicine Antwerp and Medicus Mundi Switzerland in the preparation of the meeting.
