Wemos | Every year, 5 million women, adolescents, and children die from preventable causes worldwide. The majority of them live in low- and middle-income countries. Tackling this challenge demands a strong health system with a solid health workforce.

Governments, donors, and civil society organisations (CSOs) in these countries are working to build stronger health systems. Global initiatives also contribute. One of these initiatives is the Global Financing Facility (GFF) for Women, Children and Adolescents. The GFF supports low- and lower-middle-income countries to accelerate progress on reproductive, maternal, newborn, child and adolescent health and nutrition, and strengthen financing and health systems for universal health coverage.

To ensure that such global mechanisms are truly aligned with the specific health needs of individual countries, engagement with local civil society is crucial. In this interactive story, we tell about our efforts to create space for civil society engagement in the GFF, to influence and improve this global health initiative.
