This year’s World Health Assembly (WHA) was again a week full of intensive debates on key global health issues, both within the formal Committee meetings and in a never ending series of formal and informal side events (see overview provided by G2H2). This year a particular attention on WHO governance resulted from the election of a new WHO Director General. You might consult the great WHO Tracker website for an overview and analysis of key WHA agenda items from a critical civil society point of view.
The MMI Network at the 70th WHA
The MMI delegation included Network and project representatives, in particular from our Global Health Governance team, our working groups on Human Resources for Health and Effective Health Cooperation and the joint PHM/MMI WHO Watch project.
As an organization in official relations with WHO, the Medicus Mundi International Network submitted a number of statements under items concerning technical issues.
For a first time, MMI, together with PHM, TWN and G2H2 published “WHA Today“, an informal update produced by a team of civil society organizations watching and critically commenting the World Health Assembly, with a focus on civil society analysis and input.

G2H2 will also have its first Annual General Meeting on the weekend before the World Health Assembly.
