This year’s World Health Assembly (WHA) will again a week full of intensive debates on key global health issues, both within the formal Committee meetings and in a never ending series of formal and informal side events (an overview is provided by G2H2).

The MMI Network at the 71st WHA

The MMI delegation will again include Network and project representatives, in particular from our Global Health Governance team, our working groups on Human Resources for Health and Effective Health Cooperation and the joint PHM/MMI WHO Watch project. As an organization in official relations with WHO, the Medicus Mundi International Network will submit a number of statements under items concerning technical issues.

  • Civil society meetings before the WHA
    Friday to Saturday 18-19 May 2018, at the Ecumenical Centre
    The global health governance team of the MMI Network was a co-organizer of a civil society strategy meetings for some years. Two years ago we handed over this role of a convenor to the “Geneva Global Health Hub” (G2H2) project hosted by the MMI Geneva office. G2H2 will also have its second Annual General Meeting on the weekend before the World Health Assembly.

  • Renewed CSO Initiative to Ensure Health Workers for All
    Sunday 20 May at the Graduate Institute
    This follow-up meeting to a civil society session on “How can civil society spur action on ensuring health workers for all?” at the recent Global HRH Forum in Dublin is open to all civil society colleagues interested in renewing CSO engagement in the HRH policies.The meeting is organized by ACHEST, MMI Network, MSF and Wemos.

  • WHA Technical Briefing: Primary health care is key to achieving universal health coverage and health for all (lead up to 40th Anniversary of Alma Ata and 2019 General Assembly High-level meeting on UHC)
    Tuesday, 22 May, Palais des Nations. The G2H2 working group on the Alma-Ata Jubilee coordinated by the MMI Network provided substantial input into the planning and implementation of this official WHA side event.
