action medeor a été fondée en 1964 dans le but de fournir aux gens des pays en développement des médicaments essentiels et des équipements médicaux. En outre, medeor s'implique dans la lutte contre le VIH/sida, la tuberculose et le paludisme, maladies fortement liées à la pauvreté, toujours selon le principe de rendre les personnes concernées capables de se prendre elles-mêmes en charge. Aujourd'hui, medeor est la plus grande organisation médicale humanitaire en Europe. Elle est tributaire du soutien de ses donateurs.
