The Swiss Tropical and Public Health Institute consists of 5 Departments: Medical Parasitology and Biology of Infection; Epidemiology and Public Health and Epidemiology; Medical Services; Swiss Centre for International Health. and Medicines Research.  It as founded in 1943 as a public organisation. It contributes to the improvement of the health of populations internationally and nationally through excellence in research, services, and teaching and training.

The Swiss Tropical Institute is a member of the Medicus Mundi Switzerland Network .
