Promoting Patient Safety – Medications without Harm

Kampala, 15-18 May 2018, EPN Forum 2018. "We are pleased to announce that the EPN Forum 2018 will be hosted by the Joint Medical Stores (JMS) in Kampala, Uganda from 15 to 18 May 2018. The biennial EPN Forum is an opportunity for EPN members to meet in one place, learn, share knowledge, exchange experiences and best practices from their home countries. Members also develop ideas and make critical decisions in relation to the activities of the Network with experts, friends and partners.

The theme for the Forum is ‘Promoting Patient Safety – Medications without Harm’.

The Forum taps into the third WHOs Global Patient Safety Challenge. WHO’s goal of the challenge is to propose solutions to address many of the obstacles the world faces today to ensure the safety of medication practices. WHO’s goal is to achieve widespread engagement and commitment of WHO Member States and professional bodies around the world to reducing the harm associated with medication by 50%, globally in the next 5 years. All our countries face the problems of medication harm and faith-based organizations should take the challenge up and make patient safety a priority.

We shall explore this theme together and learn collaboratively and come up with ways we can incorporate evidence-based practices that address this subject.

The Forum will end with the EPN General Business Meeting the 18th of May 2018. Further details of the Forum such as fees and the program will be sent to you soon and posted on our website www.epnetwork.org.

There will be the opportunity for participants to submit poster presentations on the following topics:

  • Best dispensing practices on addressing patient safety
  • Innovations in addressing AMR
  • Innovation in addressing NCDs
  • Other innovations including service provided since the 2016 Forum

Please do not hesitate to contact us should you need any immediate information."
