"Poverty is not a natural condition. It is a state of plunder. It is delusional to believe that charity and aid are meaningful solutions to this kind of problem.” (Jason Hickel)

With its public workshop "Health Cooperation beyond aid", the Network Medicus Mundi International contributed to the debate on how actors in development cooperation such as international NGOs or bilateral agencies can engage in a legitimate, relevant and effective way to achieving universal access to health.

Leaving no one behind in global health – what should Germany’s contribution be? VENRO international conference, 28 September 2016

"In September 2015, the United Nations adopted the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development. Sustainable Development Goal 3 aims at ensuring healthy lives and promoting well-being for all at all ages.

One year after the adoption of the Agenda for Sustainable Development it is time to take stock: Is the course set in the right direction? What are the international community and Germany doing to achieve the goal?

We would like to discuss these and other questions with the Federal Minister for Economic Cooperation and Development, Dr Gerd Müller, further representatives from politics, as well as national and international experts from civil society, academia, multilateral organisations and the private sector."
